FOR AUTHORS

How Much Does Book Marketing Cost?

Book marketing ranges widely depending on what you are actually buying, from a few hundred dollars for a single service to several thousand for a full layered campaign. There is no honest one-size number, and anyone who hands you one without asking about your book is guessing. Here is how to think about it so you spend smart instead of spending blind.

The short version

You are not buying one thing. You are buying layers. A cover. Reviews. Placement. Press. A bestseller campaign. Each layer has its own cost, and you do not need all of them on day one.
The right budget is not the biggest one. It is the one aimed at your weakest spot.

If your book has no reviews, no amount of fancy advertising will save it. Fix the weak layer first. Then build up.

What I tell every author

Spend where you are weakest. Say it out loud before you open your wallet.

I have watched authors pour money into ads while their book had three reviews and a cover that whispered when it should have shouted. The ads worked. They sent readers to a page that gave readers no reason to buy.

Money does not fix a weak foundation. It just lights it up so more people can see the cracks.

So before you spend, find the gap. Then close that one first.

What you are actually paying for

Here is where the money goes, roughly in the order you should care about it.
  1. Foundation. A strong cover and a sharp Amazon description. This is the cheapest thing to fix and the most expensive thing to ignore.
  2. Credibility. Real reviews and editorial recognition. This is what makes strangers trust you.
  3. Placement. Getting your book into the real-world settings where readers discover books. This is what we do.
  4. Media. Press and features that extend your reach and give you something to point to.
  5. A bestseller campaign. Concentrated launch firepower, once the layers underneath are solid.

You can start at any layer, but starting at the bottom is almost always the smart play.

Why won't anyone just tell me a price?

Because an honest price depends on your goals, your timeline, and which layers you need.

That said, vague is not an excuse for hidden. Any program worth your money will give you a clear, itemized price once they understand what you are after. If someone dodges the number entirely, that tells you something.

Ask for the breakdown. Ask what each layer costs.

What is the least I can spend and still move the needle?

Less than you think, if you spend it in the right place.

One fixed layer beats five half-funded ones. A sharper cover, or a real set of reviews, will do more for a struggling book than a scattered budget spread thin across everything at once. Pick the weakest layer. Fund that one properly. Then come back for the next.

How we price it

We tell you what each layer costs and what it does, then we help you aim your budget at the gap that is actually holding your book back. No mystery number. No pressure to buy the whole stack on day one.
