FOR AUTHORS

How Do Authors Get Their Books Into Luxury Hotels?

Authors get their books into luxury hotels by partnering with a book placement program that already has relationships with those properties. You do not pitch hotels one by one.

You work with a curator the hotels already trust, who places your book at the bedside, in the suite, or in the digital library where guests actually read.

I know this because I built one of the first programs that does it.

The short version

A hotel will almost never take a book directly from an author. Hotels protect the guest experience. They do not want a stack of unvetted titles in their suites, and they do not have anyone on staff whose job is to read submissions.

So the path in is a trusted middle layer. A placement program vets the books, handles the logistics, manages the relationship, and takes responsibility for quality. The author gets access they could not get alone. The hotel gets a curated amenity with none of the work.

That middle layer is the answer to the question.

How I learned this

Years ago I packed one book for a trip that was falling apart. Cry to Heaven by Anne Rice. Over five hundred pages. I almost left it home because it was too heavy.
That book saved the trip.

Every morning I escaped into it. By the pool. On the beach. Away from the tension. And I noticed something that never left me.

Where you discover a book matters.

RECONSTRUCTED FROM HERE.

The sections below were rebuilt from the page template and Jane's voice. Verify against the original June draft before publishing.

A book found in the right place, at the right moment, lands differently than a book scrolled past in a feed. That is the whole idea behind Bedside Reading. I took the thing that happened to me and built a program around it, so authors could place their books exactly where readers are relaxed, present, and ready to fall in.

The steps, plainly

Here is how an author actually gets placed.
  1. Get the book ready first. A strong cover and a clean, finished product. Placement amplifies what is already good. It will not rescue a book that is not ready.
  2. Work with a program, not the front desk. Find a placement partner the hotels already trust. That trust is the door. You do not have it yet. They do.
  3. Match the book to the setting. The right book in the right property matters. A curator places with the guest in mind, not just the author.
  4. Decide how you want to show up. Placement can be physical at the bedside or digital through an in-room library guests can keep. Often it is both.
  5. Use the placement after. A book in a five-star hotel is a credibility line you can point to in press, on your site, and in front of the next reader.

Can I just mail my book to a hotel myself?

You can mail it. It will almost certainly end up in a back room or a donation bin.
Hotels do not have a process for unsolicited books, and they will not put an unvetted title in a guest suite. The vetting and the relationship are exactly what a placement program exists to handle.

What kind of books get placed?

Books that fit the setting and the reader. Quality matters more than genre. The question a curator asks is simple. Would a guest in this room be glad to find this book.

Is placement physical or digital?

Both are real options. A physical book at the bedside is the classic version. A digital library guests reach by a code in the room, and keep forever, extends the reach far past a single nightstand. Many authors use both at once.
