What I LOVE About Hotels!
If you know anything about me, you probably know that I LOVE to travel. Lucky for me, I am privileged to stay at some of the most glorious hotels in the world. Whether it's a five-star or an Airbnb, I've been there! What makes a guest feel welcome?
The following list is culled from my years of extensive travel, yes, of course, I had amazing experiences at some of our partner hotels but this list is not about them, (unless of course, I mention them!)

The following list is culled from my years of extensive travel, yes, of course, I had amazing experiences at some of our partner hotels but this list is not about them, (unless of course, I mention them!)
My top favorite in-room luxuries::
- A personal note, in the room, upon arrival! A nice touch. of course, chocolate, wine/champagne does so much more!
- The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills and many other hotels now have in-room tablets. I love the fact that I can just say "Rick, honey, please tell Alexa to close the curtains."
- It's a fact, women need magnifying mirrors that light up!
- We also need makeup remover towelettes. (perhaps more than one?)
- The Bardessono Hotel cheered me up when they told us the mini-bar was a "free for all!"
- Hotel Yountville had us stay in their newly remodeled room. The bathroom was the size of a studio apartment with a built-in shelf for two pieces of luggage! (one of my favorite amenities!)
- Books by the bedside or the pool?? You would think I was jaded, but every time I go to the Mandarin Oriental New York there they are! I still get a "jolt" of excitement!
- A TV screen in the bathroom, so I can watch and soak simultaneously!
- Bathtubs with tiny air jets! Thank you, Mill House Inn, East Hampton - yours was my first "jet/tub" experience! I am still dreaming about it!
- Another Mill House Experience--when we arrived in our room, there was a cute stuffed dog, their mascot "Corie" sitting on the sofa in the living room area. When we returned from dinner, Corie was waiting for us at the foot of the bed! (See photo below). My heart melted!
- I once checked into The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel around 11 pm. The next morning when I left the room I passed a hotel employee and they welcomed me with, "Good Morning, Miss Ubell" --Now, how did they know my name?
- I love fresh coffee in the morning, a Nespresso or a Kerug is a must!
- Conrad Los Angeles provides guests with a driver (thank you Adam for doing double duty!) for a quick ride downtown!
- Motion sensor to guide you to the bathroom at night.
- A personal butler is also nice, not necessary--but a good touch!
- Towels! Fluffy and large! - same with bathrobes. Terry not waffle!
- Can we talk about pillows? We all have our own preferences--but please, give us a choice, Down? Foam? I like soft, down pillows...so much so, that I have tracked down and bought pillows I found at a few of my favorite hotels! Two of my favorites! Harvest Inn, St. Helena, and Marram Montauk!
- Finally--hands down for one of the most memorable "touches".. the Peninsula Beverly Hills. When we entered our room, we found two pillows on the bed. Each pillowcase was monogrammed with our initials! The hotel gave us a choice...take them with us, or save them for our next visit. Guess what we did?
